It’s Men’s Health Month! Compared to women, men are more likely to put off regular checkups and medical care. But the good news is that it’s never too late to start healthier habits.

Men: take charge of your health.

Here are some healthy steps you can take now:

Ask your doctor what preventive care you need this year. Preventive care includes screening tests that can find diseases early, when they may be easier to treat, and shots (vaccines) to prevent serious diseases.

Talk to family members to find out which diseases run in your family — there may be things you can do now to help prevent them.

Make healthy food choices every day, like ordering a side salad instead of fries.

Be as physically active as you can be. Try riding a bicycle to work or just for fun.

Try to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night. Getting enough sleep can lower your risk of high blood pressure and diabetes.
